What is Zovirax?

Zovirax is indicated for the treatment of Herpes simplex infections of the skin and mucous membranes, including the primary and recurrent genital herpes, for the suppression of recurrent simplex herpes in patients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS / EFFECTS

Hypersensitivity to the active and intolerance or any of its components. During pregnancy and lactation should be restricted to apply only to cases of actual need. The different formulations of Zovirax cold sore cream have several contraindications and side effects. For example, the oral intake may povocare disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and can lead to skin rashes. The injection is only for hospital use and is used in cases of more severe problems such as severe forms of herpes simplex or zoster infections, particularly large or in cases of herpes encephalitis.

Zovirax inhibit the multiplication of herpes virus in the genital organs, skin and other mucous membranes. It is available in both cream and pills.

Used for long-term treatment in particularly severe cases. Can also be used in severe cases of chickenpox and shingles.
After bone marrow transplantation can Zovirax cream used to prevent infections caused by herpes virus, cytomegalovirus.

The cream shortens the healing process with a half day, compared with “similar cream without the active component, ” says Pharmacy.
Manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline and is on prescription.
Possible side effects:

Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to the sun, and fever. Confusion hallucinations and brain disease are some of the adverse reactions reported as very rare.

Warning! Zovirax affect several other medications and should preferably not be taken with lithium taken against manic depression, some asthma resources and gout medications.
